The Alaska Government Finance Officers Association (AGFOA) annually offers several scholarships to college students preparing for a career in state and local government
finances. Each year we offer two $1,000 scholarships to full-time students and one $500 scholarship to a full-time or part-time student. Anyone preparing for a career in public finance, including financial
management, risk management, auditing, accounting, cash management or banking will be considered eligible to apply.
Interested students must submit an AGFOA Scholarship Application, current high school or college transcript, and an essay that includes the following topics:
The essay must be a minimum of two double-spaced typewritten pages with one-inch margins, with a maximum of three double-spaced pages. The application,
transcript and essay must be received at the address below by March 31, 2008. Late applications will not be accepted. An evaluation committee will review scholarship applications and those selected will be
notified by May 15, 2008. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college, community college, or junior college the student will be entering, and may be applied to tuition and/or other academic
fees. The scholarship may also be used for correspondence courses.
